The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday that it struck several Iranian missile launchers just moments before they were scheduled to be launched toward Israeli territory.
“Since this morning, the IAF identified several trucks containing weapons, including surface-to-air missile launchers, advancing from western Iran toward Tehran, while attempting to escape IDF strikes. However, we struck the trucks, neutralizing the weapons and launchers,” the IDF said in a statement.
This follows a major Israeli air operation conducted the previous night, in which Israel Air Force (IAF) fighter jets struck over 100 military targets in Iran. The strikes were concentrated in Isfahan and Tehran and were based on intelligence pinpointing imminent threats to Israel.
A major focus of the operation was the dismantling of over 20 surface-to-surface missiles that were reportedly minutes away from being launched at Israel.
In addition to the missile strikes, the IDF confirmed the killing of four senior Iranian intelligence officials in Tehran.
Among those killed were:Mohammad Kazemi, Head of the IRGC Intelligence Organization, Mohammad Hassan Mohaqiq, Deputy Head of IRGC Intelligence, Mohsen Bakri, Head of Quds Force Intelligence and Abu al-Fadl Nikouei, Deputy Head of Quds Force Intelligence. According to Israeli officials, these individuals were key architects of Iranian strategic planning and were involved in organizing operations against Israel and other regional actors.
The building in Tehran where they were meeting was reportedly struck with precision munitions after real-time intelligence identified their presence.
This series of strikes marks the second major Israeli attack on Iran's intelligence apparatus in recent days. On Friday, Iran’s Armed Forces’ Intelligence Chief was also eliminated in a separate Israeli strike.
The IDF estimates that with these latest attacks, nearly one-third of Iran’s missile launch capability has now been dismantled.
Israeli defense sources describe the strikes as part of a wider effort to deter further attacks and degrade Iran’s ability to project military power across the region.
