Poland has chosen L3Harris Technologies to supply its Viper Shield electronic warfare (EW) system as part of the country’s F-16 Viper upgrade program.

The acquisition, made through the U.S. government, will see Poland equip its F-16 Block 52+ fighters with the AN/ALQ-254 Viper Shield, aligning them with the same EW capabilities fielded by operators of the new F-16 Block 70 variant. Viper Shield will enable pilots to identify, locate and counter threats faster.

L3Harris has developed Viper Shield to be software-defined, allowing future capability upgrades. The system can be installed internally on Block 70/72 aircraft, retrofitted to earlier F-16 blocks, or deployed as an external pod.
