U.A.E. Summons Israeli Envoy over Strike on Qatar

United Arab Emirates summoned Israel's deputy ambassador, David Ahad Horsandi, to protest Israel's attack on Qatar and a statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The U.A.E. Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al Hashimy , presented what she referred to as a "strong denunciation and rejection" of the attack, labeling it as a reckless and cowardly attack against Qatar. She described the strike as a brazen disregard for the sovereignty of Qatar, a violation of international law and the UN Charter, and an escalation that endangers regional and international security.

Al Hashimy emphasized that Qatar's stability is synonymous with that of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. "Any attack on a Gulf state represents an attack on the joint Gulf security framework," she added.

She additionally cautioned that Israel's "provocative and aggressive" behavior threatens to undermine chances for stability, drive the Middle East onto what she referred to as "dangerous paths," and create a situation that "cannot be tolerated or accepted."
