Germany and the Netherlands signed a joint contract on Friday to purchase a total of 222 Boxer Schakal combat vehicles.
This contract is worth €3.4 billion.
Under the agreement, Germany will acquire 150 vehicles and the Netherlands 72, both configured identically except for national communication systems. The deal also covers spare parts, training equipment, and provisions for future orders. Deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2028.
The Boxer Schakal, equipped with a 30mm Puma turret operated from inside the cabin, can engage infantry, armored vehicles, helicopters, and drones. The vehicle’s design provides space for nine personnel.
Dutch defense authorities stated that the new vehicles will boost the firepower of the 13th Light Brigade in Oirschot, meeting NATO’s requirement to reinforce the defense of Alliance territory.
