Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has manufactured over 4 aircraft per month totaling up to 101 aircraft so far in 2025 making it the highest production of fighters during the post-Soviet era.
This makes it a 50% growth in aircraft production over 2024 which too saw a sharp rise over the previous year, according UAC General Director, Vadim Badekha as quoted in TvZvezda.ru.
The current growth was made up of Su-35S multifunctional fighters and Su-34 front-line bombers. At the same time, the supply of new machines, including the Su-57, is often not advertised, which is explained by security requirements in the context of the ongoing special military operation, the report says.
In 2026, the production of fighter jets could be enhanced by the addition of an all-new fighter, the Su-75 single engine light stealth fighter.
The growth of defense production is explained not only by demand caused by the war in Ukraine, but also by the resistance of the military industry to sanctions.
Unlike civil aviation, combat programs were initially less dependent on foreign components. Civilian projects were hit harder, but they did not stop completely: in 2024, about 160 aircraft and helicopters were built in total.
In addition to fighter aircraft, a number of missiles and bomb guidance kits have been developed and manuactured which have greatly enhanced the performance of the fighters.
The record was made possible thanks to the large-scale modernization of aircraft manufacturing enterprises: the expansion of workshops, the purchase of equipment and the hiring of personnel. Russian experts note that increasing the production of military equipment has become a priority of the state defense order, which temporarily limited the development of the civilian sector.
