Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Chan Chun Sing, officiated the launch of the Republic of Singapore Navy’s (RSN) first Multi-Role Combat Vessel (MRCV), Victory, at ST Engineering’s Benoi Shipyard on October 21.
Victory is the first of six MRCVs to be launched under Singapore’s ongoing naval modernization program. Designed to operate as a “mothership” for unmanned aerial, surface, and underwater systems, the vessel will integrate advanced sensors, weapon systems, and network capabilities. The design also features automation technologies allowing it to operate with a smaller crew compared to similar warships.
The ship will now undergo outfitting, platform and combat systems integration, and acceptance trials. Meanwhile, the pioneer crew will begin training to prepare for the vessel’s operational deployment.
The six MRCVs are scheduled to be progressively delivered from 2028 onwards.
The MRCV project involves collaboration between the Defence Technology Community, including Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), DSO National Laboratories, ST Engineering, and various industry partners.
