The Netherlands will explore producing AMRAAM missiles next year after the U.S. government approved a Raytheon-led feasibility study late last week.
The study will examine how Dutch industry can support the production, assembly, and maintenance of the AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM). The missiles counter medium-range threats such as manned and unmanned aircraft and cruise missiles and are used on the F-35 and in ground-based air and missile defense systems.
This marks the first AMRAAM co-production effort with a European NATO partner. Scaling up AMRAAM output is seen as key to sustaining support for Ukraine and reinforcing NATO’s defense posture.
