Lockheed Martin has introduced the STAR.OS platform, a new artificial intelligence (AI) framework designed to enable different AI systems to operate together within defense and government environments.
The system provides a single structure for integrating multiple AI applications to enhance coordination and mission efficiency.
The STAR.OS solution integrates Systems, Tactical applications, Autonomy/AI, and Rapid deployment to form a cohesive platform for AI-based operations. It consists of three key components: STAR.SDK, a developer toolkit; STAR.IO, a system for connecting AI services; and STAR.UI, a real-time interface for monitoring AI activity.
Lockheed Martin stated that STAR.OS is a central part of its plan to integrate AI across multiple domains for the U.S. Department of War, government agencies, and private-sector collaborations. Early deployments have been reported in maritime threat detection and missile warning systems.
The company also demonstrated the system’s capabilities at its internal “AI Fight Club” hackathon, where STAR.OS integrated multiple AI services within a digital environment to improve situational awareness and mission readiness.
