Swedish explosives manufacturer SWEBAL Sweden Ballistics has signed a letter of intent with Scandinavian X to supply domestically produced TNT for use in the company’s upcoming drone systems.
The partnership aims to strengthen Europe’s defence supply chain and increase regional self-sufficiency in critical materials.
Scandinavian X, launched by Front Ventures AB, Skygaard Defense Solutions, and Hede Capital, is developing drones based on Ukrainian technology but manufactured in Sweden, using NATO-standard components.
The company’s production will represent the first Swedish-Ukrainian drone collaboration in the Nordic region.
SWEBAL, founded in 2024, is building a new TNT production facility in Nora, expected to be completed in 2028. Once operational, it will be one of only a few European factories capable of producing TNT to NATO standards.
Deliveries to Scandinavian X are scheduled to begin the same year, supplying both NATO markets and Ukraine.
The deal follows a €3 million investment earlier this year in Scandinavian X, backed by prominent investors including former Swedish Army Chief Major General (ret.) Karl Engelbrektson and EQT co-founder Thomas von Koch.
