U.S. Clears Sale of SM-2, SM-6 Missiles worth $3.5B to Germany
U.S. Navy’s Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer launches a Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) during a live-fire test of the ship's Aegis weapons system.

The U.S. State Department has approved a possible $3.5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Germany involving Standard Missile 6 Block I and Standard Missile 2 Block IIIC systems.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Germany has requested up to 173 SM-6 Block I missiles and up to 577 SM-2 Block IIIC missiles. The package also includes MK 21 and MK 13 Vertical Launch System canisters, missile transport and storage equipment, special test and handling equipment, engineering and integration support, training materials, technical publications, and U.S. Government and contractor logistics services.

The missiles are intended for Germany’s future F127 class surface combatants equipped with the Aegis Weapon System, providing integrated air and missile defense capabilities.

RTX Corporation will be the principal contractor.
