The U.S. State Department has approved a $301 million Foreign Military Sale to Italy for 100 long-range air-to-surface missiles.
A formal notification has been sent to the U.S. Congress by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
The request covers 100 AGM-158B/B-2 Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles with Extended Range, classified test equipment, missile containers, KGV-135A encryption devices, spare and repair parts, software, technical documentation, transportation support, site surveys, and U.S. government and contractor engineering, logistics, and program support.
The missiles are intended for use on Italian fighter aircraft, including the F-35, and are expected to improve Italy’s stand-off strike capability against current and future threats.
Lockheed Martin will serve as the principal contractor for the proposed sale.
