Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has delivered the first batch of WhAP 8×8 armored combat vehicles to the Royal Moroccan Army.
The delivery was officially announced by Tata Advanced Systems on December 24 via its social media platform X.
The WhAP 8×8 (Wheeled Armoured Platform) is a modular armored vehicle jointly developed by Tata Advanced Systems and India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
According to the company, the platform is designed for versatility and can be configured for infantry transport, command and control, and combat support missions, offering a balanced combination of protection, mobility, and adaptability for modern battlefield requirements.
In 2024, Morocco signed an agreement with Tata Advanced Systems for the local production of the WhAP 8×8. As part of the program, a new manufacturing facility was established in the Berrechid region and became operational three months ahead of schedule. The vehicles delivered to the Royal Moroccan Army are reported to be manufactured locally.
Tata Advanced Systems stated that the WhAP 8×8 program represents a long-term industrial partnership, rather than a one-time delivery. Local production is expected to support workforce development, supply chain localization, and long-term maintenance and lifecycle support of the fleet.
