Australian MoD Signs Pact with Google for Defence hyperscale cloud

The Australian Department of Defence has signed a multi-year Deed of Standing Offer with Google Australia Pty Ltd to deliver an enhanced, secure and air-gapped hyperscale cloud capability for Defence’s information and communications technology (ICT) environment.

The agreement will support Defence’s transition to modern cloud-based infrastructure under Project DEF 2222 and JP 9111, enabling greater resilience, scalability and security across Defence systems.

Under the Deed, Defence will gain access to advanced global cloud technologies while maintaining sovereign control over critical Defence assets.

The hyperscale cloud capability is designed to accelerate the rollout of mission-critical systems, support continuous upgrades, and strengthen interoperability with trusted international partners.

The new cloud environment will provide end-to-end capability, extending from core cloud infrastructure to edge computing, enabling Defence operations in complex and contested environments.
