Saab Launches Second Polish SIGINT Ship

Saab has launched Poland’s second SIGINT ship, ORP Henryk Zygalski, in Gdańsk, completing the hull phase of the DELFIN programme for the Polish Navy.

The vessel is the second and final signals intelligence ship ordered by Poland from Saab. The first ship, ORP Jerzy Różycki, was launched on 1 July 2025. Both ships will now undergo installation of reconnaissance and electronic intelligence systems, followed by sea trials, before entering service.

The ships are designed to carry ship-based electronic intelligence systems capable of collecting data across the full range of maritime electronic emissions as part of Poland’s SIGINT operations.

Saab is the prime contractor for the DELFIN programme. Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. is responsible for construction, while Polish company MMC supported the design work. Saab is supplying and integrating the mission systems, with other Polish defence industry entities also involved.

Deliveries are planned for 2027 and 2028 after completion of onboard installations and sea trials.
