Bulgarian Stryker Vehicles to Get Recon Surveillance Kits

Bulgarian Stryker vehicles will be equipped with reconnaissance surveillance kits under a U.S. Army contract awarded to Teledyne FLIR Defense through a foreign military sales program.

Teledyne FLIR Defense said it has received a contract valued at up to $32 million to deliver and integrate electro-optical and infrared systems for the Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle Recon Kit. The contract was awarded by the U.S. Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

The program supports Bulgaria’s acquisition of nearly 200 U.S.-made Stryker armored vehicles, intended to replace Soviet-era platforms and improve interoperability with NATO forces. The new kits are designed to strengthen intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting functions in all-weather conditions, day and night.

The company said the systems include the TacFLIR 280 HDEP electro-optical and infrared imaging system, the Ranger R20SS long-range radar, and Cameleon control software for tracking and targeting threats.

Future phases of the modernization effort are expected to add unmanned aircraft and launch systems, along with nuclear, biological and chemical detection sensors supplied by Teledyne, to enable standoff identification of hazardous threats.

The contract has a three-year performance period. Manufacturing will take place at Teledyne FLIR facilities in the United States and Canada, with final integration carried out in Bulgaria after vehicle delivery.
