The U.S. Department of War has awarded Belgian firm Sabena Aerospace Engineering a contract worth up to $235.4 million to provide maintenance support for F-16 fighter jets operated by Ukraine.
The contract covers intermediate- and depot-level maintenance of aircraft and engines, along with material management, logistics, and spare parts support under the Foreign Military Sales framework for Ukraine.
The company, based in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium, will carry out all work at its facilities in Belgium. The agreement is scheduled to run through Jan. 28, 2029. At the time of award, $69.7 million in FMS funds were obligated. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, is the contracting authority.
According to Business Insider, as of January 2026, Ukraine had received 44 of the roughly 85-95 F-16 fighter jets pledged by European countries. The Ukrainian Air Force has previously acknowledged the loss of F-16s during operations.
