Adani Defence & Aerospace and Leonardo Partner to Build India’s Helicopter Ecosystem

Adani Defence & Aerospace and Leonardo have announced a strategic partnership to develop, manufacture, and sustain a helicopter ecosystem in India.

The initiative aims to meet rising military demands and establish India as a hub for helicopter production.

The collaboration will focus on the Indian Armed Forces’ requirements, particularly for Leonardo’s AW169M and AW109 TrekkerM helicopters.

It will include phased indigenization, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, and pilot training. The partnership also has potential applications in civil aviation and the international supply chain.

By combining Leonardo’s global helicopter expertise with Adani Defence’s aerospace capabilities, the project supports India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision and is expected to create thousands of high-skill jobs in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and sustainment services.
