Germany Signs New Contracts for IRIS-T Guided Missiles

Diehl Defence and Germany’s Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) have signed several contracts to procure IRIS-T guided missiles for the German Armed Forces.

The agreements also include follow-on procurement to ensure ongoing supply and support for these advanced systems.

The contracts cover short- and medium-range missiles for both air-to-air operations and ground-based air defence, including the IRIS-T air-to-air missile as well as the IRIS-T SLS and IRIS-T SLM surface-to-air variants. Close cooperation between Diehl Defence and BAAINBw helped ensure a smooth and timely contracting process for these high-demand systems.

A key advantage of the IRIS-T family is its multi-role capability.

The missile can be deployed on fighter aircraft or adapted for ground-based air defence, offering an effective and cost-efficient solution for modern air defence needs.
