Patria Signs Final F-35 Engine Assembly Agreement with Pratt & Whitney

Patria and Pratt & Whitney have signed an agreement covering the final assembly and inspection of F135 fighter engines for Finland’s F-35A aircraft.

The work involves assembling and testing a series of F135 engines at Patria’s new assembly and maintenance facility in Linnavuori, Nokia, where production has already begun and is scheduled to continue until 2030.

Patria will handle the assembly, maintenance, and long-term upkeep of the F135 engines. Finland’s first F-35A fighters are scheduled to arrive at the Lapland Air Force Base in Rovaniemi at the end of 2026. Engine maintenance activities will continue at the Linnavuori facility throughout the service life of Finland’s F-35 fleet.

The agreement builds on a 2024 decision under which Patria would assemble F135 engines and components from 2025 to 2030, followed by a service and maintenance phase starting in 2030.

To mark the start of F135 production, Patria has placed a World War II-era Pratt & Whitney engine on display at the Linnavuori site. The engine was recovered from a lake near Orivesi in spring 2025.
