Fincantieri Wins €200M Saudi Torpedo Order

Fincantieri has secured a contract worth more than €200 million (approx. $240 million) from the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia for the supply of MU90 lightweight torpedoes.

The order will be carried out through the company’s subsidiary, WASS Submarine Systems. Deliveries of the torpedoes are scheduled between 2029 and 2030.

The MU90 is a lightweight torpedo designed for anti-submarine warfare operations.

Each MU90 torpedo is 2.85 meters long, weighs just over 300 kilograms, and has a 323.7mm NATO-standard caliber. It can be deployed from various platforms, including surface ships and both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
