Teledyne FLIR to Upgrade Ranger Anti-Drone Radar Systems
Teledyne FLIR Defense has announced software enhancements to its Ranger anti-drone radar systems, improving detection speed and accuracy for critical missions.

The upgrades apply to the Ranger R8-3DX and Ranger R20SS platforms, used in border security, force protection, and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) operations.

According to Teledyne FLIR, the new Fast Scan technology allows 360-degree coverage at up to 60 RPM for the R8-3DX and 30 RPM for the R20SS, a significant increase from previous scan rates. The R8-3DX also gains up to 20% greater elevation coverage, enhancing detection of high-altitude threats such as drones.

Enhanced algorithms and AI-enabled processing provide highly accurate target classification, maintaining sensitivity to low-speed targets while minimizing false alarms and reducing operator workload.
