Ukraine Strikes Russian Ammunition Depot Near Kotluban with FP-5 Flamingo Missiles

Ukraine carried out an overnight missile strike on a major Russian ammunition depot near Kotluban in Russia’s Volgograd region, using domestically developed FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles.

According to Ukraine’s military, six FP-5 Flamingo missiles were launched at the facility, described as one of Russia’s largest arsenals. The site, located near the village of Kotluban in the Volgograd region, reportedly stores up to 150,000 tons of missiles, artillery shells, and explosives across roughly 3.5 square kilometers.

Videos circulating on social media appeared to show nighttime launches followed by explosions, with fires and secondary blasts visible in the distance. Local Russian authorities said evacuations were carried out in nearby residential areas as a precaution.

Ukraine’s General Staff said the target was military unit 57229-51, a logistics and ammunition storage base supplying Russian forces.

Russian officials, however, claimed that air defenses intercepted the incoming missiles and that falling debris caused the fires.
