Argentina’s Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti finalized the acquisition of new Unimog 4000 military trucks in Germany.
The minister ordered the trucks while attending the 2026 edition of the Munich Security Conference, where he also held a series of bilateral defense meetings.
During his visit to Munich on February 18, Presti met with Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Belgium’s Secretary of State for Defense Theo Francken, U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby, and NATO Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood Javier Colomina.
According to the Argentine Ministry of Defense, discussions focused on reinforcing bilateral defense ties and advancing cooperation in training, capability maintenance, and strategic coordination.
On the sidelines of the conference, Presti visited the Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks facility in Germany, where he inspected the first unit of a batch of 48 plus 16 Unimog 4000 all-terrain military trucks destined for the Argentine Army. The vehicles are part of a procurement program aimed at restoring and upgrading field mobility assets.
The Unimog 4000 is designed for off-road military operations and logistical support in varied terrain. Argentine defense officials said the acquisition represents the first addition of military field vehicles in this category in more than five decades.
