The Turkish Armed Forces have showcased their ASLAN Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) during Exercise STEADFAST DART 26, currently underway in northern Germany.
According to JFC Brunssum, the Turkish contingent deployed the unmanned system during land manoeuvres and capability demonstrations, highlighting the growing operational importance of unmanned ground platforms in modern warfare.
The ASLAN is an armed unmanned ground vehicle developed by Turkish defence company ASELSAN for reconnaissance and surveillance missions. In service with the 66th Mechanised Brigade for the past three years, the Medium-1 class UGV features an electric drive system and modular architecture supporting patrol, logistics, and fire support roles.
It can be equipped with electro-optical and thermal sensors, LIDAR, and mast-mounted EO/IR systems, as well as the SARP-L RCWS and METE 40 mm laser-guided missiles for combat operations. With its low silhouette, quiet mobility, and semi-autonomous capability, ASLAN enhances force protection while delivering flexible reconnaissance and fire support in high-risk environments.
