Israel’s Ministry of Defense has signed the first phase of a deal to purchase dozens of JLTV all-terrain vehicles for the country’s ground forces, with the contract valued at more than 80 million shekels ($26 million).
The agreement was signed through the U.S. Department of War’s procurement delegation and involves the acquisition of armored combat vehicles intended for use by maneuvering forces within the Israel Defense Forces.
The deal includes a full maintenance solution alongside the vehicles. The JLTV platform, referred to locally as “Wild,” is designed for use in various operational environments.
The ministry said the procurement forms part of preparations to support different war scenarios. The agreement is part of a broader series of defense contracts signed recently under a strategy led by Defense Minister Israel Katz and the ministry’s Director General, Maj. Gen. (res.) Amir Baram.
