Iranian Attacks Continue Across Bahrain, Eyewitness Reports Blasts in Manama

An eyewitness in Bahrain told Defensemirror.com today that Iranian attacks have continued without pause since Sunday night, with repeated sirens and explosions reported across parts of the capital.

“Siren and blasts are deafening… A lot of homes have suffered damaged and people are injured,” the source said, adding that residents feel unsafe.

Iranian attacks continue despite Tehran apologizing for attacks on “neighboring countries.”

The U.S. Army reportedly used a PrSM tactical short-range ballistic missile launched from a U.S. base in Bahrain on Saturday. Despite assurances from the Iranian president that Iran would refrain from striking its “friendly” neighboring countries, Iranian media said Tehran was forced to respond after a missile was launched at Iran from Bahraini soil.

The source said attacks are occurring mainly around Juffair, a modern district in the capital Manama that hosts the U.S. Naval Support Activity Bahrain, home to the U.S. Fifth Fleet.

The source added that mobile alerts have also become inconsistent.

The attacks follow several Iranian strikes reported in Bahrain in recent days. On March 9, Bahrain’s health ministry said an Iranian drone attack targeting the island of Sitra wounded more than 30 civilians, including four in serious condition. Falling missile debris reportedly damaged a university building in northern Bahrain and several residential homes in the Sitra area.

A day earlier, a drone strike caused material damage to a desalination plant, a key facility for Bahrain’s freshwater supply. However, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said there was no immediate impact on the water network’s capacity.

On Sunday, Bahrain’s military reported intercepting more than 150 drones and 90 missiles targeting the country.

The witness said leaving the country has become difficult due to airspace restrictions. The only option is traveling by road to neighboring Saudi Arabia and then attempting to fly to safer regions. Some citizens have managed to flee Bahrain this way, the source said.

The conflict has also affected Saudi Arabia. The country’s defense ministry said air defenses intercepted multiple drones over the Rub al-Khali desert heading toward the Aramco-operated Shaybah oil field between March 7-9, while the U.S. State Department ordered non-emergency personnel and their families to leave the kingdom due to security risks.

On March 8, a projectile struck a residential area in Al-Kharj near Riyadh, killing two foreign nationals—one Indian and one Bangladeshi—and injuring 12 others, the first reported civilian deaths in Saudi Arabia since the escalation began.

The conflict began on Feb. 28 when Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran, saying they were targeting Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs and suggesting they sought to topple the government. The conflict has since spread across the region, rattling global markets and disrupting air travel. Iran has since fired missiles and drones at Gulf states, while Israel has intensified attacks in Lebanon, and strikes have been reported from Cyprus to waters off Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has been appointed Iran’s new supreme leader after his father was killed in an Israeli strike. Mojtaba Khamenei had long been viewed as a potential successor despite never holding an elected office or formal government position.
