Leidos Prepares to Manufacture Small Cruise Missile for U.S. Special Ops Command

Leidos has received a $12.5 million contract to procure long-lead materials for the Small Cruise Missile program supporting U.S. Special Operations Command.

The contract was announced in the U.S. Department of War contracts list on March 11. Work is expected to be completed by Feb. 26, 2029.

The Small Cruise Missile developed by Leidos has been designated AGM-190A by the United States Air Force. The weapon is a 200-pound class cruise missile designed to support adaptable mission requirements.

During testing from a C-130 aircraft, the AGM-190A demonstrated a stand-off range of more than 400 nautical miles, or about 740 kilometers. The system uses modular hardware and open-system software intended to allow updates for different operational requirements.

According to program information, the missile is powered by a Pratt & Whitney TJ150-7 turbojet engine that produces more than 150 pounds of thrust. The missile can reach speeds of about Mach 0.8, roughly 613 miles per hour, and operate at altitudes up to 30,000 feet.
