Israeli MoD’s Defense Procurement Directorate (DPD) today announced a deal to purchase tens of thousands of 155 artillery shells from Elbit Systems for a total of over 150 million shekels ($47.5 million).
The production of the munitions will be carried out at Elbit factories across the country, which employ thousands of workers and operate in an increased format in three shifts in accordance with the Ministry of Defense's requirements.
Artillery guns are expected to be increasingly deployed in Lebanon as Prime minister, Netanyahu has announced the expansion of the “buffer zone” in Lebanon.
Indonesian peacekeeper killed, another critically injured.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has confirmed one of its peacekeepers was killed in the country’s south as fighting between Israeli troops and the Hezbollah group intensifies amid Israel’s invasion.
“A peacekeeper was tragically killed last night when a projectile exploded in a UNIFIL position near Adchit al Qusayr,” a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) statement said on Monday. “Another was critically injured.”
Indonesia confirmed that one of its peacekeepers was killed and three others were wounded due to “indirect artillery fire.”
The UNIFIL statement said they did not know the origin of the projectile but had launched an investigation. “No one should ever lose their life serving the cause of peace,” it added.
