Russian Orlan Reconnaissance UAV Equipped with FPV Drones
The short-range FPV drones on the Orlan reconnaissance UAV will enable it to attack the moment it spots an adversary target.
An Orlan reconnaissance UAV has been equipped with FPV drones for short range attack missions.
A Russian medium-range reconnaissance drone with FPV drones mounted under its wings has been spotted flying over Ukraine, according to Ukrainian media.
A photo of the drone was published by Ukrainian Defense Ministry adviser Sergey "Flash" Beskrestnov, who was recently wounded in a Geran strike.
"This time, the Orlan was captured on camera. It has already dropped one FPV drone," Beskrestnov wrote.
He noted that Russia has previously used Geran and Gerbera drones as drone carriers. However, the Orlan, unlike them, is a reusable platform.
"Using such a drone as a carrier and signal repeater allows for a significant increase in the range of quadcopter drones," Ukrainian media reported.
