he Russian Ministry of Defense published a video of the Sarmat strategic missile system testing today.
The Sarmat is beyond interception, according to the Russian MoD and its 4 conventional warheads have enough explosives to destroy a city the size of London or Paris, Russian observers say.
Strategic Missile Forces Commander Sergei Karakayev announced the success of the test to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Karakayev also reported to Putin that the first missile regiment armed with these systems will begin combat duty by the end of 2026. This will occur at the Uzhur Missile Force, located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Vladimir Putin noted that the Sarmat missile will be able to carry four times more payload than any Western equivalent. He also noted that it will be able to travel not only on a ballistic but also a suborbital trajectory.
This allows for a range of 35,000 kilometers, while doubling its accuracy.
A suborbital flight trajectory provides the possibility of significantly increasing the range, as opposed to a ballistic trajectory. A similar range (40,000 km or more when launched to the East and
15,000-34,000 km when launched to the West).
