Some 18 persons are reported killed and 90 injured in a massive wave of Russian missile attacks against targets in and around Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital.
The strike was carried out in response to “terrorist attacks” by the enemy on civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation, Russian state media reported. The Kyiv State Emergency Service published photographs of burning buildings in Kyiv, damaged by the massive strike.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) reported today that a massive strike was launched against Kyiv regime targets . The strike involved the use of air-, land-, and sea-based precision weapons, as well as attack drones.
Among other things, there were reports of damage to facilities at Radionix, a research and production facility involved in the production of guidance systems for Ukrainian missiles. These include the Flamingo, Fire Point-7, Fire Point-9, and Neptune-MD missiles. The report also concerns surface-to-air missiles of the Klon project, the MoD said.
74 missiles and 496 long-range drones launched at Kyiv
Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched 74 missiles and 496 long-range drones during the attack, most of which targeted Kyiv. Forty-eight missiles and 476 drones were shot down or suppressed but 25 ballistic missiles and 12 drones struck 33 locations.
Twenty-eight of the missiles fired at Kyiv were ballistic missiles, a record number for a single attack on the capital, Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, said on national TV.
As of 7:00 a.m. local time, damage and destruction had been recorded at more than 30 locations across all districts of Kyiv as a result of the attack.

European Union Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas announced the possible imposition of new sanctions against Russia following the overnight strikes on Kyiv
