The strikes took place the same day U.S. forces resumed the naval blockade against vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas. The blockade went into effect at 4 p.m. ET today.
Iran attacks US bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait
In response, the IRGC Navy and Aerospace Force launched tens of Shahed-101 and Shahed-136 one-way attack drones, along with tens of ballistic missiles, at Bahrain, forcing the expenditure of nearly 60 MIM-104F surface-to-air missiles fired by U.S. Army Patriot PAC-3 air defense batteries.
The IRGC's use of the Shahed-101 indicates an apparent attempt to deplete the interceptor inventories of the U.S. Army's Patriot batteries, as well as Bahrain's air defenses, reducing their ability to defend strategic sites in the country against subsequent waves of IRGC ballistic missile attacks.
The IRGC specified the US facilities in Gulf states that it attacked:
-the US Army's logistics and support center in West Asia at Mina Abdullah, Kuwait.
-he Command and Control Center, warehouses containing military parts and equipment, and fuel depots belonging to the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
-At the US base at al-Azraq in Jordan, the IRGC targeted shelters housing US F-15, F-16, and F-35 warplanes and “eliminated a number of US MQ-9 strategic drones stationed at the base.”
