BAE Sytems has won a multimillion-dollar contract to supply the Malaysian government with new armoured vehicles. A joint venture between BAE Sytems and Nurol Group of Turkey on Tuesday agreed to build 250 armoured vehicles, which will be manufactured locally by an industrial partner. The Malaysian contract will include support and maintenance of the vehicles over their 20-year service life. The 8x8 vehicles will be designed for Malaysia and are typically used for transporting troops into battle and supporting them in combat. Interest is expected from other customers in the region, according to defence industry sources.
