General Dynamics Awarded $73M Contract for Support from US DoD

General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a contract for Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Machinery and Systems support by the U.S. Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD). The five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a potential value of $73.3 million if all options are exercised. Through the contract, General Dynamics will support HM&E machinery and systems on Navy vessels and select land-based sites, as well as other federal agency and federally contracted vessels. These services include prototype engineering, design, development, testing, performance specifications and data analysis, system fault tree and safety analysis, computer programming and software engineering. The company will also provide system training development and on-site technical support, alteration services, integrated logistics and staging. General Dynamics will perform the work primarily in Norfolk, Va. , San Diego and Philadelphia , in addition to locations in Hawaii , Guam , Japan , Bahrain , and Italy . The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division is the Navy's leading maritime technology authority and oversees full life-cycle support for maritime technologies. The division is a leader in surface and undersea vehicle science, ship systems and related maritime technology and serves as a major technical component of the Naval Sea Systems Command. General Dynamics Electric Boat recently was awarded two U.S. Navy contracts worth $56.7 million to perform submarine modernization and maintenance work and develop advanced technologies for current and future undersea platforms. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. Under the first award, worth $41.6 million , Electric Boat will continue operating the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. The company provides a wide range of overhaul, repair and modernization services in support of submarines, floating dry docks, support and service craft and other equipment at the base. About 270 Electric Boat employees will be engaged in the work.
