Boeing has been awarded a $693 million firm-fixed price contract modification to buy five additional C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifters to the 5 it has already ordered last May taking the total to 10. As per the Air Force’s requirement, the original contract was an indefinitely-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that was awarded on May 13, 2010 to buy the first five planes. According to a Pentagon release, the aircrafts will be built at Boeing’s Long Beach, Calif., factory and delivery is expected to be completed by March 20, 2013.
