The British Government has put its best foot forward at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2012 in Malaysia and has presented 65 defense companies at the expo including the ADS Group, General Dynamics UK, Typhoon International and Smiths Detection. Gerald Howarth, Minister for International Security Strategy said that his government was looking to develop comprehensive partnerships with Malaysia. "The UK is committed to further strengthening this enduring relationship through a variety of ways, including technology transfer and industrial partnerships across a broad range of sectors, Howarth said in a statement yesterday. Willy Hockin, Director Maritime at ADS, said, “As the high level of interest from UK industry present at DSA and our Prime Minister’s recent tour of the region has demonstrated, Asia is a key market for UK defence and security companies. Industry anticipates there to be a significant demand from the region in the future, and the UK as the second largest global exporter of defence equipment is an ideal partner to aid this growth”. Both countries have in the past established tie-ups, transferring of technology and capabilities to Malaysia.
