Russia Likely To Acquire Israeli UAVs Worth $50 Million

Russia is likely to add to its list of foreign UAVs and acquire Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and control systems worth $50 million from Israel in the coming years, according to Russian media reports. Russia’s fleet of Israeli-made UAVs include two Bird Eye-400, eight I-View Mk150 and two Searcher Mk.2 UAVs worth $53 million. “The Defense Ministry is considering the possibility of purchasing from the Israeli company Aeronautics Defense Systems of three types of UAV control systems (eight each): Orbiter 2, Aerostar and Skystar,” a defense ministry official was quoted as saying to Ria Novosti. Given that each such system can service two to three UAVs, “between 48 and 72 Israeli UAVs may be bought,” he said. According to the official, the defense ministry will rely of foreign systems until the domestic industry starts large scale production of similar systems.
