Oman is close to acquiring 12 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft from BAE Systems in a contract estimated to be worth $2 billion. These lasers will provide Navy ships with a defense capability against certain ballistic missiles, including China’s new anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM). The aircraft maker is also in talks with theUAE which is looking to buy 60 Eurofighters should its deal with France's Dassault falls through, according to media reports. After losing the Indian MMRCA deal earlier this year to Dassualt’s Rafale, BAE System is hoping to win Malaysia’s fighter competition. Earlier in May, BAE signed a $2.5 billion contract to supply Saudi Arabia with Hawk jets to train pilots to fly the Eurofighter which it has already ordered from UK company.
