The Polish Ministry of Defense is expected to sign a deal to launch production of the Anders tank, a prototype developed by Bumar Group’s OBRUM Gliwice research unit. The Polish army plans to acquire 1000 new tanks of different variants to overhaul the country’s land forces. Retired. Gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak, Poland’s deputy defense minister, said, “The order will be placed with the Polish defense industry, but to boost the design and production phase, it will be vital to cooperate with top foreign defense manufacturers”. The light tank that weighs 32 to 40 ton carries a 120mm gun, can carry a crew of three to seven, fitted with a 530-kilowatt engine which enables a maximum speed capacity of 50 mph. The testing of the Anders tank will begin in the next two years.
