India has signed a framework document with Russia on Tuesday for the production of modern munitions for the Indian Army which will be developed in a joint production facility, according to Russian media reports. India, a traditional importer of Russian arms, plans to begin local production of rockets and artillery rounds designed by Russia. According to reports, both countries will also explore the possibility of cooperating in the aerospace technology arena. In 2010, India and Russia announced the registration of a joint venture, MTA Limited, to develop a new line of transport aircraft. And recently the two countries agreed to develop hypersonic BrahMos 2 missile capable of flying at speeds of Mach 5-Mach 7.
