Embraer will present a full range of solutions for the defense industry at the Indo Defence Expo and Forum. This includes state-of-the art radar technologies, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), advanced information and communications systems as well as military aircraft such as the KC-390 medium lift military transport jet that is currently in development, the company’s range of VIP transportation jets, and the A-29 Super Tucano light-attack aircraft, of which 16 units have been ordered by the Indonesian Armed Forces. “We are glad to participate in this prestigious event and have the opportunity to promote and expand our growing presence in Asia Pacific,” said Luiz Carlos Aguiar, President of Embraer Defense and Security. “We are confident that our mission-ready products and other integrated solutions will be of interest and benefit to our customers in Asia Pacific”. In Indonesia, Embraer Defense and Security has signed agreements with the Ministry of Defense to provide the Indonesian Air Force (IAF) with 16 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft. These aircraft were purchased by the IAF as part of the country’s equipment modernization program. The first four units were delivered to the Indonesian Air Force in a ceremony in Brazil, in August 2012. This was followed soon after by their inauguration at the Malang Air Base in Indonesia, in September 2012. Indonesia’s Air Force is the first customer for the Super Tucano in Asia Pacific.
