Russia’s Military-Industrial Company (MIC) has announced that it has been chosen by the Republic of Congo to supply several consignments of Russian-made Tigr (Tiger) armored vehicles for its police force. “The first contract has been signed and the first consignment of Tigers is being prepared for delivery to the African continent,” the company said, adding that it should be completed before the end of the year. A second contract with the Congolese Interior Ministry “is pending,” the statement added without disclosing the delivery volumes citing “confidentiality agreements”. The SPM-2 GAZ-233036 Tigr (Tiger) is a high-mobility multipurpose military vehicle manufactured by MIC, a GAZ Group division, at the Arzamas machine-manufacturing plant. It has a maximum speed of 150 kph and can carry up to nine personnel or 1.2 tons of cargo.
