CAE To Build Training Centre In Brunei By Next Year

The Government of Brunei Darussalam, the Brunei Economic Development Board ('BEDB') and CAE today held a ceremony to officially celebrate the construction of the new CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre (MPTC) in Rimba. The CAE Brunei MPTC is a joint venture between CAE and the Ministry of Finance of Brunei Darussalam.

"This Multi-Purpose Training Centre will be a shining example of Brunei investing to diversify and grow knowledge-based industries that provide high-quality job opportunities for our people," said Dato Paduka Hj Ali. "The MPTC will also play a key role as learning and training hub for the wider South East Asian market."

The CAE Brunei MPTC, expected to be complete by end of April 2014, is being constructed initially with five simulator bays along with supporting classrooms and additional infrastructure. Long-term training services contracts have already been signed to provide training on the following aircraft platforms: Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopter; Pilatus PC-7; and Sikorsky S-92 helicopter.

Training programs based on modeling and simulation technology are expected to be added in the future to support other market segments.

"Our simulation-based technologies and proven learning methodologies will provide the foundation for high-quality training that will ultimately help enhance the safety, security, efficiency and productivity for Brunei Darussalam and its neighbors."

As part of the Brunei Economic Development Board's continuous sustainability initiatives and aim for inspiring building designs to be energy-saving, the CAE Brunei MPTC will be a Green Mark (Gold) facility that features a range of "green" initiatives, including 30 percent savings from artificial lighting by use of occupancy sensors and high frequency ballasts, and 17 percent savings from the air-conditioning system to promote energy efficiency.

The building will also utilise Low Volatile Organic Compound (Low VOC) paints to reduce indoor air pollutants and improve air-quality, and sun louvers will be installed to allow for abundant natural light while reducing glare from direct sunlight. A highlight of the CAE Brunei MPTC will be the installation of a 'green' wall and 'green' Courtyard to not only help reduce heat transfer from external wall surfaces, but also add a pleasant aesthetic appeal to the building.

To further promote the 'green' initiative of the building, all sustainable construction products will be certified to Green Labelling Schemes.
