Indications to this effect were available after Defense Acquisition Program Administration official confirmed that Seoul will decide within the next week whether to buy 60 next generation fighter jets after various delays and failed bids from Lockheed Martin, Boeing and EADS.
The defense minister on Wednesday to review the failed bidding process along with top officials and a range of options can be considered, include restarting the process from scratch, an official at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said.
"If the auction falls apart, we will consider all possible options, possibly including splitting the purchase, and find the best solution," the official said.
