India Spent $80 Million On Mirage Upkeep In 2012-2013

Indian Defense Minister AK Antony revealed to Parliament that 4.67% of the annual revenue expenditure was spent on Mirage upkeep and maintenance.

Including procurement of spares and repair, the MoD spent approximately $80 Million on the Mirage 2000 in the last financial year.

The prices of spares of Mirage-2000 aircraft are derived from Last Purchase Price / Price Catalogue escalated to current financial year. These prices are negotiated with the vendor every time through Contract Negotiation Committee meetings as per Defence Procurement Manual, the Ministry of Defense said in an official statement.

In 2011, India approved a $2.4 billion deal with France for upgrading India's Mirage-2000 combat planes.

The upgrade program also includes fitments of advanced multimode-multi target radar, reconfigured glass cockpit and advanced avionics, state-of-the-art electronic warfare system and capability to launch advance missiles, Antony said.
