India Successfully Test Nuke-capable Agni IV

India successfully tested indigenously developed ballistic missile, Agni IV, capable of carrying nuclear warheads and with a strike range of 4,000 km, in Odisha last week.

The surface-to-surface missile, which was tested for its full range of operations from a mobile launcher, has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

“It has met all the mission requirements,” declared MVKV Prasad, director of Integrated Test Range (ITR) of DRDO, afterwards.

The 20-metre tall Agni IV weighs 17 tonne and can carry 1,000-kg warhead.

The last test of this missile, which is lighter than Agni III, was successfully carried out on September 19, 2013.
