Saab Wins $26 Million Gripen Support Contract

Saab has won a contract estimated $26 million to support and maintain Gripen throughout 2014 on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces.

The order comprises support and maintenance operations and ensures the continued operation of Gripen in Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary and Thailand with a focus on delivering technical documents, ground equipment, component maintenance and more.

The received order also includes the option to be exercised under previously signed contract in June 2012, with FMV regarding performance-based support and maintenance of Gripen.

"This order is fundamental for efficient and accessible operations with the Gripen system in the current year," Lars-Erik Wige, Head of Saab's Support and Services business area was quoted as saying by The Wall Street Journal.

The original contract with FMV includes options for additional orders up to a maximum value of $209 million until the period ending in December 2016. With this order, a total of $122 million of the available options have been called up.
