Raytheon Canada Limited has been awarded a five year contract by Public Works and Government Services Canada for operations and maintenance of the North Warning System (NWS).

The contract also includes two options totaling an additional five years. Raytheon Canada Limited is contracted to provide operations and maintenance for the NWS and assume full care, custody and control of the NWS and its components.

This includes forty-seven radar sites, five logistics support sites, a monitoring and control center and a radar depot. RCL will be maintaining the sites to ensure continuous radar surveillance over northern Canada in support of the defense of North American and Canadian sovereignty. Raytheon Canada Limited partnered with Canadian Base Operations, Inc., in bidding for the contract.

"Providing the best solution at the best value, as well as our Inuit Benefit offering were key discriminators in our win," said Pierre LeBlanc, NWS program manager Raytheon Canada Limited. "RCL brings training as a core competency to develop a high technology work force in the north."

Raytheon Canada Limited is committed to not only achieve the contractual Inuit Benefits, but has set goals beyond mandatory requirements. Raytheon has previous experience in the Arctic and Antarctic environment and is dedicated to supporting this important NWS endeavor.
