Serbia Test-Fires Missiles With LRSVM Morava Multiple Rocket

The Serbian Armed Forces successfully test-fired missiles with the newly developed LRSVM Morava multiple rocket launcher on Friday.

The system should become operational by year-end, according to InSerbia.

“This is an important day for the Serbian Armed Forces (VS) as we have successfully completed the development and demonstration tests of the Morava missile system after five years of trial testing,” Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic was quoted as saying during the demonstration ceremony of Grad 122mm and Oganj 128mm rockets.

Gasic says he expects the mass production of the system to begin during the course of 2015.

Director of Serbia’s Military Technical Institute Zoran Rajic said that LRSVM Morava was a complex weapon that took a lot of knowledge and technology expertise from Serbian experts to be developed.

The EUR 1 million investment, LRSVM Morava missile system is intended to destroy combat equipment of command posts, bases, warehouses, airports, and lightly armored targets. The development saw new technologies for construction of launch tubes developed and tested and a new navigation system produced that can be operated without the use of satellite data.

The Oganj rockets can be fired for a maximum range of 22.5km wh Grad rocket can be launched to a maximum range of up to 35km.
