China Deploys DF-21D Ballistic Missiles To Guangdong For Blocking US Carrier Groups‏

China's strategic missile force has deployed DF-21D anti-ship ballistic missiles to the southern province of Guangdong to stop US carrier groups from entering South China Sea waters. 

 The DF-21D, which has attack range of 2,700 kilometers, can be used to form a blockade against the United States and allies in the Western Pacific. Those missiles would very likely be used against a US carrier battle group in the disputed southern seas and the Taiwan Strait.

Similar missile systems of the Second Artillery Corps have been deployed to other bases around China, according to the Canada-based Kanwa Defense Review.

The expansion of the Second Artillery Corps unit in Guangdong began in 2010, according to a report from the Pentagon. It has nine parking lots for the mobile launchers and an additional 13 lots for other vehicles. The facilities also contain a training field, office building and checkpost, according to a satellite photo.
